For over half a century, Gayatri Pariwar has been engaged in promoting Enhancement of Human Potential through a special movement called Vyakti Nirman (Self Reformation). This movement creates a lasting positive transformation in individuals by bringing out their strengths and virtues. According to the vision of the Gayatri Mission's founder Shriram Sharma Acharya, our goal is the ultimate "Awakening of Divinity in human beings and the descent of heavenly happiness on earth". This goal can be achieved through Yug-Nirman-Yojana's (Movement for the Recreation of the Era) interventions in domains like self development, family and child-rearing (Parivar Nirman), friendship, recreation and leisure, school, work, and social service.

Gayatri Gyan Kendra of Long Island (a non-profit organization) was formed in 2006 to educate younger generations about Indian Culture, and achieve three objectives on the road to meeting the Gayatri Mission's goal:

1. Help younger generations develop intellectual knowledge about strengths and virtues ("Daivy Sampatti"), positive emotions ("Bhav Samvedana"), and positive character traits ("Charitra Nirman")
2. Provide progressive increments to our children in the realization of their potential as human beings, by identifying, understanding and integrating strengths (identified in the first objective above) into their daily lives
3. Shramdan, where students will donate time for social cause, and practice "Simple Living and High Thinking"motto with a disciplined lifestyle using clear and strong values.
